About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in the ICU Neuro/Trauma unit, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse preceptor. This role focuses on promoting health, preventing injury, and assisting with patient care. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care and support to patients and their families. This is a part-time, on-site position located in Visalia, California.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Document all care provided in the EMR and record intake, output, height, weight, and vital signs.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulation, oral care, and feeding.
- Support the admission, transfer, and discharge process for patients.
- Communicate patient needs, concerns, or changes in condition to the licensed nursing staff.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes and assist with patient needs.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Participate in emergency care, including crash cart checks and CPR.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist with transporting the body.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional patient environment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program: completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Current BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program or current Kaweah Health employment within an eligible partnership program.
- A validated Skills Checklist available at all times, completed by your school of nursing in conjunction with your preceptor.
- A watch with timing capabilities (second hand or stopwatch).
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.

- Location: Visalia, California.
- Shift: Day, 12-hour shifts.
- Status: Part-time, paid internship.
- Requirements: You must submit updated transcripts to HR each term and report any changes in your nursing program enrollment.
