About the role#
As a Student Nurse Aide in the PCU/ICU-3W department, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide care for patients and their families. This role allows nursing students to gain clinical experience while supporting our healthcare team. You must keep your college or university skills competency checklist available at all times, as your duties are limited to those validated by your nursing program and your Kaweah Health preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, and ambulation.
- Answer patient call lights and greet patients and families in a professional manner.
- Document care in the electronic medical record promptly.
- Collect and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake and output data.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, including room orientation.
- Support nursing staff by collecting, labeling, and delivering specimens.
- Provide for toilet needs and empty drainage containers.
- Help with meals, snacks, and water for patients.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
- Report any changes in patient condition or family concerns to licensed staff.
- Participate in emergency care, including crash cart checks, CPR, and Code Blue responses.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist with transporting the body.
- Comply with all safety and infection control policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited RN program with at least one successful semester completed.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school OR current Kaweah Health employment while enrolled in a Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- A current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to provide updated transcripts to HR each term.

- Shift: Night, 12-hour shift.
- Employment type: Part-time.
- This position is not benefits eligible.
