About the role#
Kaweah Health is hiring a Student Nurse Intern for the 5T Cardiovascular ICCU/PCU department in Visalia, California. This part-time position involves working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide patient care, support nursing procedures, and assist the interdisciplinary team. You will help with daily operations, maintain patient safety, and contribute to the overall care plan for patients in a cardiovascular setting.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to carry out the plan of care.
- Perform basic bedside care, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Collect and record vital signs, intake and output, heights, and weights.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Label and deliver specimens.
- Provide post-mortem care when needed.
- Assist with emergency care, including CPR and crash cart checks.
- Report changes in a patient's condition or concerns to licensed staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all safety and infection control policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program: completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Current BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school or current Kaweah Health employment while enrolled in a Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- A current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a validated Skills Checklist and submit updated transcripts each term.
