About the role#
We are looking for a Mission Operations Engineering Intern to join our team for a 3-month term during Summer 2027. You will work directly with our spacecraft, executing integrated test campaigns and validating system health. This role involves mastering the satellite bus and working alongside our engineering teams to support on-orbit operations.
What you'll do#
- Support manual and automated test procedures to confirm the flight worthiness of spacecraft hardware and software.
- Participate in integration campaigns for development and flight hardware.
- Operate spacecraft by interpreting telemetry and sending commands during system tests at the factory, test facilities, and launch sites.
- Identify off-nominal conditions during testing and work with the engineering team to reach a resolution.
- Communicate project status, risks, and needs to the K2 Space team and payload providers.
- Assess risks related to integration, testing, and flight approaches while communicating trade-offs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 6 months of technical engineering experience outside of the classroom, such as research, lab work, project teams, or previous internships.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site at our headquarters in Torrance, California.
- The internship requires a minimum 12-week commitment.
- This role involves access to information controlled by U.S. export regulations. Candidates must be a U.S. person or eligible for a federally issued export control license.
