About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our team for a 12-week program during Summer 2027. You will work alongside our engineers to own a software project from start to finish. This role involves supporting actual on-orbit operations and interacting with satellite sensors, actuators, and guidance algorithms.
What you'll do#
- Develop physics-based software models to test spacecraft subsystems like propulsion, power, and communications.
- Write drivers for simulation hardware.
- Build tools to help our team deploy quality code quickly.
- Analyze data and investigate anomalies to find and fix software bugs.
- Support the integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
What you'll need#
- Development experience in Rust, C++, or a similar compiled language.
- Coursework or experience in numerical methods, ordinary differential equations, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.
- Ability to work on-site in Torrance, California, for at least 12 weeks.
- Experience with scientific Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
- Background in simulation systems for hardware-in-the-loop or hardware-out-of-the-loop testing.
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations, probability, and statistics.
- Knowledge of linear algebra, signal processing, controls, or orbital mechanics.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery systems.
- Experience with Linux systems programming and driver development.
- Understanding of electronics, computer architecture, and control systems.
- Pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Aerospace Engineering.
