About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our team for a 3 month period during Summer 2027. You will work alongside our engineers to own a software project from start to finish. This role involves supporting actual on-orbit operations and interacting with satellite sensors, actuators, and cyber-physical system simulators.
What you'll do#
- Create software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of a 20kW+ spacecraft.
- Develop applications for spacecraft subsystems, including propulsion, guidance, attitude control, thermal, power, and communications.
- Design and implement state machines to ensure robust spacecraft operation.
- Perform data analysis and investigate anomalies to identify and resolve software bugs.
- Support the integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 6 months of experience applying technical engineering skills outside of a classroom setting, such as through research, personal projects, or previous internships.
- Development experience in Rust, C/C++, or Go.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site at our headquarters in Torrance, California.
- The internship requires a minimum commitment of 12 weeks.
