About the role#
As a Manufacturing Operations Management Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware. This role involves working on tactical satellite equipment, including surface mount technology solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers to help transition products from design to full production.
What you'll do#
- Establish work instructions and develop process procedures.
- Qualify new tools and equipment for the production floor.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and implement engineering changes.
- Maintain labor standards, process controls, and reporting systems.
- Assist with new product introductions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Design and transfer manufacturing strategies and engineering tools.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and determine time standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams.
- Analyze manufacturing plans and perform economic analyses to address labor and cycle time variances.
- Attend daily shift huddles to support product line key performance indicators.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
- Familiarity with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- A basic understanding of 3D printing.
- Experience using statistical software like Minitab or JMP.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification is preferred.
