About the role#
As a Technical Operations Engineer Co-Op, you will support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives at Ethicon in San Lorenzo. This role focuses on driving operational excellence through process optimization, project execution, quality improvements, and data analysis. You will work to implement engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO, safety, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support and execute engineering projects of low to medium complexity.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, throughput, and productivity.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support process validation activities and develop validation protocols.
- Manage and support Non-Conformance (NC) Quality Actions from initiation through completion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Analyze manufacturing data and recommend improvements to reduce waste, downtime, and costs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and problem-solving methodologies.
- Coordinate communications between the facility and equipment manufacturers or suppliers.
- Develop and present innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, environmental, safety, and occupational health standards.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your undergraduate freshman year at an accredited university.
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Location & details#
- Location: San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.
- Term: Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027 (January to December).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Status: Paid internship.
