About the role#
The Facility Operations Assistant role supports the daily operations of UVA Rec indoor and outdoor facilities. You will serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and guests, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This is a part-time, on-site position for current UVA students.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer support by lending equipment, managing locker rentals, and processing memberships.
- Act as an information agent for facility programs and services.
- Monitor facility access and maintain a professional presence at reception desks.
- Assist the Facility Operations Supervisor with opening and closing procedures.
- Perform facility maintenance, including cleaning fitness equipment, vacuuming, and organizing reception areas.
- Support event preparations and room resets for gymnasiums, courts, and classrooms.
- Enforce department policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Respond to emergency situations according to established safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current UVA student.
- Ability to work 6-12 hours per week.
- Availability for opening and closing shifts, Friday nights, weekends, and academic breaks.
- Completion of department training.
- Attendance at regular staff meetings and in-service sessions.
- A commitment to providing helpful customer service in a professional environment.
