About the role#
This is a full-time Research and Development Co-op position with Mentor Worldwide, part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. You will join the team for the Winter 2027 term. This role is based on-site in Raritan, New Jersey, and requires a 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and test prototypes using CAD and rapid prototyping tools.
- Create part, assembly, and drawing files in SolidWorks for components and test fixtures.
- Support process development activities, including the creation of tooling and equipment.
- Develop and execute test methods to characterize new products.
- Conduct hands-on work in the engineering lab and write technical reports.
- Coordinate project activities with marketing, outside suppliers, and manufacturing sites.
- Perform literature searches and reviews to support front-end research.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
- Ability to create and modify CAD drawings and design test fixtures.
- Strong organization and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of engineering principles gained through coursework and lab experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as a self-starter.
- Experience with SolidWorks or LabVIEW is preferred.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrated leadership in campus or community programs are preferred.
- You must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for future employment visa sponsorship.
