About the role#
As a Maintenance Co-op Student at Johnson Electric, you will work under the direction of a licensed journeyman to maintain production and facility equipment. This role is part of an apprenticeship program, and you will report directly to the maintenance manager. You must be committed to completing both the formal Day Release schooling and the 8000 hours of practical on-the-job training required for certification.
What you'll do#
- Maintain production and facility equipment to ensure high uptime.
- Conduct regular inspections on machinery to identify defects and potential problems.
- Repair and replace parts as needed.
- Assist journeymen with equipment modifications and repairs.
- Install new equipment and coordinate with outside services.
- Complete assigned work orders thoroughly and safely.
- Support department lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Notify the appropriate personnel regarding tool, material, or stock deficiencies.
- Adhere to ISO standards, company policies, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
What you'll need#
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40-45lbs on an occasional basis.
- Flexibility to work any shift or time, including weekends.
- Related work experience or training in a machining environment.
- Experience with CNC machines, computer fundamentals, or an electronic/mechanical background are assets.
- High level of integrity, dependability, and a team-oriented attitude.
