About the role#
As an IT Co-op at Johnson Electric, you will serve as the first point of contact for technical support. You will handle PC setups, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist users to ensure systems run effectively. This role requires a customer-focused approach and the ability to manage IT tasks within a corporate manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level support for hardware, software, and application issues.
- Configure and install PCs for new and existing staff.
- Document all requests and issues using a ticket management platform.
- Track, route, and escalate technical problems to the appropriate teams.
- Maintain an updated inventory of hardware and software assets.
- Assist with software upgrades and ensure updates are applied.
- Support IT onboarding processes and provide user training.
- Ensure user computers comply with organizational security policies.
- Generate reports on service desk performance.
- Maintain documentation of solutions and internal processes.
- Work with other IT departments to resolve issues and implement projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Familiarity with IT service management and ticketing tools.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, and network technologies like LAN, WAN, and VPN.
- Knowledge of cloud services such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving.
