About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training for individuals pursuing a career in commercial and industrial electrical systems. You will work alongside experienced electricians to gain practical skills in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting while supporting facility management teams. This role offers a structured learning path focused on building electrical systems, safety protocols, and code compliance.
What you'll do#
- Learn to use testing equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, and voltage testers to diagnose electrical issues.
- Assist with inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical distribution systems, lighting, power outlets, and equipment connections.
- Help install and maintain building electrical systems including lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Document electrical work performed, materials used, and system modifications.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives, including lighting controls and system design.
- Attend regular safety training and strictly adhere to electrical safety protocols and National Electrical Code standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed education in electrical technology, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
- Physical capability to work in various positions and environments, including ladders and confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
