About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training and development for individuals pursuing a career in commercial and industrial electrical systems. You will work alongside experienced electricians to gain practical skills in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting while supporting facilities management teams. This role offers a structured learning path to understand electrical systems, safety protocols, and code compliance in a professional environment.
What you'll do#
- Learn to properly use testing equipment such as multimeters and voltage testers to diagnose electrical issues.
- Assist with inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical distribution systems, lighting, power outlets, and equipment connections.
- Help install and maintain building electrical systems including lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and control panels.
- Participate in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Document electrical work performed, materials used, and system modifications in facility management systems.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives through learning about LED retrofits, lighting controls, and efficient electrical system design.
- Attend regular safety training and strictly adhere to electrical safety protocols and National Electrical Code standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how electrical systems integrate with other building infrastructure components.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed education in electrical technology, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Good mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
- Physical capability to work in various positions and environments, including using ladders and working in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
