About the role#
Join Irving Shipbuilding for a Winter 2027 co-op term in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. You will support accounting and reporting for shipbuilding programs for the Royal Canadian Navy. This role offers hands-on experience working with finance professionals, building skills, and exploring future career paths. The company covers up to $1000 in co-op fees for this position.
What you'll do#
- Execute standard journal entries with accuracy.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Compile and prepare financial reports for leadership.
- Analyze financial data and create visualizations using current tools.
- Participate in mentorship and professional development sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Commerce or Business Administration degree program.
- Good academic standing and a strong desire to learn.
- Between 0 and 2 years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel for data analysis.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities.
- Curiosity and a drive to improve processes.
- Interest in the shipbuilding, defense, or marine industry.
- Ability to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
