About the role#
Ithaca College is seeking a Water Quality Work-Study Student to support the Community Science Institute. This role involves assisting with program coordination, managing data, and providing customer service related to water testing. This is a part-time, paid position available to students awarded Federal Work-Study.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the coordination of various monitoring programs and events.
- Support staff in developing and publishing educational content regarding water quality.
- Provide customer service to clients by discussing their water testing needs and logging samples into the laboratory system.
- Enter water quality data into the public database.
- Prepare certified water test reports for drinking water clients.
- Wash and prepare sample bottles for volunteer monitoring programs.
- Pursue a specific project that supports the organizational mission, subject to approval.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two semesters of coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Experience in science communication or science education.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, solve problems, and maintain attention to detail.
