STUDENT-Assistant Office & Social Media Operations

About the role#

The Registrar’s Office at Ithaca College is seeking a Student Assistant to support daily operations and digital communications. This position involves providing customer service, maintaining student records, and managing the department's social media presence. This role is ideal for students in Communications, Marketing, or Graphic Design who are looking to apply classroom knowledge in a professional environment.

What you'll do#

• Provide clear interpretation of College policies and procedures to faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators.
• Deliver excellent customer service at the front counter and via phone.
• File processed paperwork into student records and maintain the filing system.
• Assist Registrar staff with special projects, including diploma cover preparation for Commencement.
• Create and manage content for platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Develop and update tutorials and video content for the Registrar’s website.
• Tailor content to the appropriate platform and audience and provide statistical insights on engagement.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all projects and student records.

What you'll need#

• Familiarity with FERPA and the ability to interpret its provisions.
• Proficiency in social media management and video editing.
• Strong organizational, listening, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• A creative, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach.

Location & details#

• Location: Ithaca, New York
• Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible around class schedule
• Pay: $16.00 per hour
• Modality: On-site
