About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Student Assistant to work with the California Department of Transportation. You will work under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer to support stormwater compliance, project tracking, and general administrative tasks within the Construction Engineering Support Unit. This is a part-time, temporary position that offers a learning environment for students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Track and update project databases for stormwater inspections and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs and records for assigned construction projects.
- Review project records to ensure the timely submittal of stormwater documents.
- Support the WSWD Desk with project administration paperwork, including filing and archiving.
- Assist with data entry and organizing program files.
- Support field staff and help evaluate the construction stormwater program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Major in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Enrollment in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students.
- Ability to apply engineering or environmental coursework to construction situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Stockton, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Hours: Up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
- Compensation: $18.28 - $28.16 per hour.
