About the role#
As an Apprentice Electrician Intern, you will work alongside journeyman electricians on industrial construction projects. This position provides hands-on experience in electrical installation and maintenance. You will support field crews by handling materials, operating tools, and assisting with equipment repairs. This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit.
- Operate power tools including drills, saws, pullers, and tuggers.
- Install conductors in race ways and cable trays.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening components like wiring, conduit, and motors.
- Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment.
- Load, transport, and unload materials and tools.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to reach work areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe work site.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an electrical technology, electrical construction, or instrumentation associate degree program.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Permanent residence in or near Des Moines, Iowa, or a willingness to relocate permanently.
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, in dusty environments, and in various outdoor weather conditions.

- This role involves travel within a 200-mile radius of the Des Moines office.
