About the role#
Interstates is hiring an Apprentice Electrician Tech College Intern to join our construction team in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role provides hands-on, industrial electrical experience while you complete your degree. You will work alongside Journeyman Electricians and Foremen to support projects, learn trade skills, and apply your classroom knowledge in the field.
What you'll do#
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit using hand and power tools.
- Operate equipment such as drills, saws, pullers, and tuggers.
- Install conductors in raceways and cable trays.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening electrical components.
- Perform minor repairs like replacing fuses, switches, light sockets, and bulbs.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment.
- Load, transport, and organize materials and tools for the crew.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to reach work areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an electrical technology, electrical construction, or instrumentation AS program.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Permanent residence in or near Fort Collins, or a willingness to relocate permanently.
Location & details#
- Location: Fort Collins, Colorado.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.45 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time, with hours typically exceeding 40 hours per week (up to 60). Weekend work may be required occasionally.
- Travel: This role requires travel within a 200-mile radius of the office. Per diem and mileage stipends are provided per company policy.
- Work Environment: You will work in various weather conditions, at heights, in confined spaces, and in environments with dust and noise. You must be comfortable with these conditions and committed to safety standards.
