About the role#
Interstates is hiring an Apprentice Electrician Tech College Intern to join our construction team in Lubbock, Texas. This position is a full-time, paid opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career as a licensed electrician through our DOL approved apprenticeship program. You will work on-site alongside journeyman and foreman electricians to support industrial electrical projects.
What you'll do#
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit.
- Operate power tools including drills, saws, pullers, and tuggers.
- Install conductors in race ways and cable trays.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening components like wiring, conduit, and motors.
- Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment.
- Transport and supply materials, tools, and equipment to field crews.
- Operate equipment including ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
What you'll need#
- Interest in becoming licensed through our DOL approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
- A certificate or AS degree in electrical technology, electrical construction, instrumentation, or equivalent experience.
- A valid driver license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work in high or precarious places, confined spaces, and variable weather conditions.
- Commitment to following all safety standards.
- Current residency in or near Lubbock, Texas, or a willingness to relocate permanently.
