About the role#
The Post Resettlement Caseworker Intern supports the resettlement and integration of refugees and immigrants. This role focuses on providing direct services to help clients navigate their new communities and access essential resources.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Post-Resettlement Caseworker in connecting clients to resources for basic needs, including food, clothing, shelter, and medical care.
- Conduct client enrollments, intakes, and surveys.
- Track client meetings and progress using spreadsheets and internal software.
- Counsel clients on requirements for New York State and City identification and assist with scheduling and attending appointments.
- Maintain and update digital client files while adhering to strict confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Provide translation and interpretation support when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary institution or graduation within the last 2 years.
- Undergraduate studies in social sciences, Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- A strong desire to help refugees and migrant communities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with data tracking and file management.
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
