About the role#
The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern works alongside caseworkers to support clients in addressing areas of vulnerability and achieving their personal goals. This role involves direct interaction with clients and coordination with community partners to ensure effective service delivery.
What you'll do#
- Attend intern orientation.
- Assist with client check-ins through phone or in-person meetings.
- Support ICM client intakes and assessments.
- Provide transportation to appointments and attend appointments with clients as needed.
- Communicate with community partners for case coordination and explore local resources for client referrals.
- Assist clients with daily needs such as completing paperwork, delivering items to homes, bill payments, and navigating medical, mental health, education, or benefit systems.
- Maintain thorough and accurate case file documentation in the electronic system and organize digital files.
- Record and submit monthly hours via the online volunteer dashboard.
What you'll need#
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in working with the refugee community.
- Sensitivity to client differences and respect for diverse beliefs and values.
- Ownership of a car, a valid driver’s license, and current car insurance.
- Willingness to transport clients in a personal vehicle.
- Flexibility and an accommodating approach to client needs.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Psychology, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Human Resources, or Public Health.
