About the role#
This internship supports the Adult Education Specialist in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the Fall 2026 term. The role is an unpaid, full-time, on-site position. It is open to students currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, as well as recent graduates from fields such as English, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, International Relations, Human Resources, Civil Engineering, or Urban Planning.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Adult Education Specialist with daily program operations, including classroom setup and administrative tasks.
- Attend ESOL and Cultural Orientation classes on designated days.
- Support students directly with class assignments and answer questions regarding language and culture.
- Help integrate digital literacy into the classroom environment.
- Provide supervision for young children when they are present.
- Record hours and submit a completed timesheet at the end of each month.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or status as a recent graduate.
- A patient, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
- Exposure to global environments and languages is considered an asset.
- A personal vehicle is not required but may be helpful on occasion.
