Client Engagement Intern

About the role#

The Client Engagement Intern supports the Intake & Outreach, Client Voices, and Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) teams in Elizabeth, New Jersey. This role provides trauma-informed services to refugees and immigrants, helping them navigate resettlement services and achieve self-sufficiency. Interns will gain practical experience in case management, client advocacy, and community outreach within a humanitarian non-profit setting.

What you'll do#

• Support specialists with document organization, case note documentation, and data entry into departmental trackers.
• Assist clients in-person and over the phone with booking and preparing for intake appointments.
• Provide live translation services during client interactions and translate written materials as needed.
• Execute outreach campaigns via phone, message, and email to share information about services and events.
• Help plan and facilitate client events, including gathering attendance data and collecting feedback.
• Research community resources and networks to support client referrals.
• Engage with all clients in a respectful and compassionate manner.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation (within the last 2 years) from a post-secondary institution, with a preference for majors in Psychology, Public Health, or Human Resources.
• Fluency in a second language, with a strong preference for Spanish or Haitian Creole.
• Ability to work on-site in the Elizabeth, NJ office for 15-20 hours per week.
• Experience with data entry and case management software.
• Previous experience or a strong interest in working with refugee and immigrant populations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
