About the role#
The Client Benefits Intern supports the direct service teams in ensuring clients can access and maintain public benefits, including SNAP, TANF, RCA, and Medicaid. This role provides an opportunity to gain insight into the resettlement process and public policy in practice while supporting new arrivals in their journey toward self-sufficiency.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Client Benefits Specialist in maintaining client public benefits.
- Liaise with local governments and Departments of Social Services.
- Contact clients to provide reminders regarding benefit interviews, renewals, and other appointments.
- Document and file Department of Social Services notices and communications.
- Compile and edit local resource sheets and benefits manuals for clients.
- Advocate for client needs with benefits program staff and local government agencies.
- Document activities in case files and provide administrative support.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in fields such as Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, or Political Science.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients in a counseling role.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual, and professional conduct.
- Comfort working in a global setting.
