About the role#
The Thermal Mechanical group within Platform Design Engineering focuses on the thermal, mechanical, and acoustic validation of AI and discrete graphics hardware. As an intern, you will contribute to the design and testing of next-generation graphics technology while working alongside experienced engineers. This role offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real hardware challenges.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical, thermal, and acoustic testing on graphics cards.
- Build computer systems and server-grade test setups.
- Validate thermal management firmware using Python.
- Develop scripts to automate test procedures and report generation.
- Analyze mid to high volume data and present recommendations to the team.
- Manage vendor communication and design test fixtures in CAD.
- Maintain lab equipment, including inventory management and ordering supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related science or engineering field.
- At least 3 months of experience with lab skills, including test setup and data acquisition.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Excel and programming languages.
- Experience with Python or similar scripting languages.
- 3D modeling and mechanical design skills using Creo (or a strong working knowledge of SolidWorks).
- Preferred: Knowledge of computer architecture, lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies), Linux command line, and building PCs.
- Preferred: Familiarity with discrete graphics systems, AI models, and datacenter environments.
