About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in the maintenance of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway grounds and the 18-hole Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. Interns participate in the care of turf and landscapes, gaining exposure to facility management, agronomy, and event preparation. This is a manual labor, intensive role designed for individuals pursuing careers in golf course, grounds, horticulture, or sports facilities management.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the preparation, execution, and cleanup for events including the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400.
- Execute agronomic practices across the Indianapolis Motor Speedway campus.
- Assist in the maintenance of a championship-level golf course.
- Support Assistant Grounds Managers with project scheduling, task execution, and follow-up.
- Assist in the calibration and application of fertilizers and plant protection products.
- Maintain high standards of operational excellence and fan experience.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Golf Course Management, Turfgrass Management, Horticulture Management, Sports Management, or related fields.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a diverse environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods.
- Stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.

- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Winter 2027, with flexible scheduling available to accommodate academic commitments.
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
