About the role#
The Facilities Intern, College Program, assists the Facilities Department with the planning and execution of events and projects. You will gain exposure to facility management, including the coordination of temporary rentals, staffing, and services. During the month of May, you will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot issues. This position is part of the College Program and is eligible for all associated programming.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the Facilities email and computerized maintenance management system to assign and dispatch Work Orders.
- Support the load-in and load-out of facility assets.
- Help with operations and production for events from January through August 3rd.
- Collaborate with skilled trades, internal departments, contractors, and vendors on facility issues.
- Inspect and record maintenance needs for buildings and grounds before, during, and after events.
- Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and execution for the Non-Profit Ecology Program.
- Participate in Department of Corrections pre and post event cleanup initiatives.
- Support the procurement and scheduling of temporary rentals, services, and staffing for Marquee Events.
- Coordinate and distribute credentials for personnel and external vendors.
- Provide administrative support for the Facilities Department.
- Problem-solve and troubleshoot challenges during events and projects.
- Participate in all College Program professional development activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree.
- Strong interest in event and facility management.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication and advanced computer skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow oral and written direction.
- Capacity to react to problems quickly with minimal supervision.
- A service-oriented mindset and willingness to build professional relationships.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and a self-starting attitude.
- Previous experience in the College Program or at IMS is preferred.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stamina to work long hours and an irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends.

- This is a paid, part-time internship.
- Work hours vary by month, ranging from 12 to over 40 hours per week, including weekends and evenings during peak event times.
