About the role#
We are hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for a 10 to 12 week summer program in Houston. This is a full-time, paid position where you will work on-site alongside experienced engineers. You will support our team on municipal, university, and utility projects across Texas. This program focuses on hands-on project work rather than busywork, providing exposure to the civil engineering trade.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of civil projects while following code and company standards.
- Document design decisions, project meetings, and client instructions.
- Monitor project design progress and review documents for accuracy before final checks.
- Maintain the project design notebook and prepare documentation for permanent record files.
- Support client relations and coordinate schedules with other disciplines like structural, electrical, and mechanical teams.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and assist with field duties such as surveying or materials testing.
- Research resources for commercially available equipment and assist with addendum preparation.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and BIM.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Previous internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
