About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for our Macomb, Illinois office. This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2027. Over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, you will support municipal, transportation, and public works projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience in engineering analysis, design, and field work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with civil design tasks following code and company standards.
- Research equipment and resources for project needs.
- Support client relations, maintain project design notebooks, and manage permanent record documentation.
- Coordinate design schedules with other disciplines and suppliers.
- Document design decisions and monitor overall project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy before final checks.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and assist with field duties like surveying or materials testing.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, CAD software, and BIM.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with individuals and groups.
- A genuine interest in design consulting.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
