About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 program in Rock Island, Illinois. This is a full-time, on-site role lasting 10-12 weeks. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on municipal, transportation, and public works projects. The program includes an assigned mentor and provides hands-on experience in the civil engineering trade.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, and permit applications.
- Assist with site drainage and grading design in accordance with code and company standards.
- Contribute to project documentation, coordination, and job site observations.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
- Research commercially available equipment and resources.
- Conduct periodic field duties, such as surveying and materials testing.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and BIM.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written formats to individuals or groups.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
