About the role#
This internship offers students the chance to work alongside engineers, product leaders, and technology partners on enterprise storage and hybrid cloud infrastructure. You will gain practical experience in how IBM storage solutions manage data for AI workloads, mission-critical applications, and modern IT environments. This role focuses on solution engineering and partner ecosystems, helping you build technical skills through real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with research, technical discovery, and customer requirements gathering.
- Support the development of technical demonstrations, presentations, and solution materials.
- Participate in lab activities, proof-of-concept deployments, solution testing, and validation.
- Help document solution architectures, configuration guides, and technical findings.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge assets.
- Support partner enablement activities, technical workshops, and demonstration environments.
- Analyze solution adoption, customer feedback, and technical engagement metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, product management, and technical sales.
- Learn about industry trends in storage, hybrid cloud, AI infrastructure, and data management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Must be returning to school following the internship.
- Academic foundation in infrastructure, cloud computing, data systems, or software engineering.
- Hands-on experience from coursework, personal projects, labs, hackathons, or previous internships.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages like Python, Bash, or Go.
- Exposure to AI/ML, data analytics, modern data pipelines, or cloud services.
- Knowledge of storage technologies (block, file, object), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM), and containers (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker).
- Understanding of Linux, networking concepts, and distributed systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and demonstrate leadership through academic or extracurricular activities.
