About the role#
As a QA/Test Engineer intern, you will work on the hardware and firmware components of IBM Z systems. You will join the Z Engineering System Test team to verify performance and support the development of our mainframe products.
What you'll do#
- Test mainframe hardware components, such as processors, memory modules, and I/O systems.
- Work with firmware and systems engineering teams on hardware-software integration.
- Diagnose and fix hardware issues through debugging and failure analysis.
- Support lab testing, including hardware bring-up, functional verification, and environmental testing.
- Create technical documentation for test procedures and results.
- Design and implement test automation to add test cases into regression buckets.
What you'll need#
- Education in hardware, software, or testing.
- Proficiency in Python coding and scripting.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, including system administration.
- Experience building and deploying containerized applications.
- Familiarity with OpenShift Container Platform and Linux KVM.
- Experience with IBM System Z, including z/VM or z/OS.
- Strong communication skills and an interest in an engineering career.
