    About the role#

The Algorithms and Applications for PDEs team works on the paradigm of quantum centric supercomputing. We combine quantum computing, AI, and conventional numerics to address forward and inverse problems for partial differential equations. The team develops workflows and algorithms that bridge these computational paradigms to improve performance where conventional scaling limits are encountered.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to the research agenda through algorithm and model development, experimentation, and validation.
    • Implement quantum solvers and train AI models.
    • Run validation across computational paradigms.
    • Develop cross-platform workflows.
    • Participate in journal clubs and prepare reports.
    • Interact with researchers and other interns across the lab.

    What you'll need#

    • Working understanding of partial differential equations and elementary statistics.
    • Proven experience prototyping in Python using NumPy.
    • Research experience in applied mathematics, AI models for PDEs, or quantum computing.
    • Experience with data assimilation methods, neural operators, or AI models for inverse problems.
    • Demonstrated experience with Hamiltonian simulation, LCU, QSP/SVT, qubitization, block-encodings, amplitude amplification, phase estimation, or quantum linear systems methods.
    • Experience with discretization methods, PDE solvers, and conditioning analysis.
    • Background in model reduction or Koopman/Carleman embeddings.
    • Strong software engineering skills and a publication record.
    • Current enrollment in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Engineering.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
    • The position is located on-site in Yorktown Heights, New York.
    • Sponsorship is not provided for this role.
