About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer intern with IBM Quantum, you will help maintain the software systems that support quantum platforms, applications, and research. You will join a team focused on security, infrastructure, and performance to keep our environments stable and scalable. This role offers hands-on experience with cloud technologies, automation, and site reliability practices.
What you'll do#
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of software systems.
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot production issues.
- Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency.
- Work with security experts, infrastructure engineers, and operations teams to maintain stable environments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience programming in Java and Python, including libraries like pandas and NumPy.
- Understanding of data structures, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
- Experience with tools such as VS Code, Jupyter notebooks, and Git.
- Practical experience deploying workloads on a major cloud provider like AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and the ability to work in a team.
