About the role#
As a Data Scientist Intern, you will join the team responsible for the availability and reliability of IBM Server technologies. You will work within an agile environment to perform data analytics and quality assurance tasks that directly impact field operations and system performance.
What you'll do#
- Analyze system telemetry data and client-impacting field events like repairs and outages.
- Calculate and validate quality metrics, including MTBF and subsystem part PPM rates.
- Create data visualizations to share insights with development, test, and manufacturing teams.
- Document and drive the closure of issues affecting server quality.
- Provide analytics to prioritize high-impact events and track the application of field fixes.
- Manage server field install base inventory and provide relevant data to portfolio management.
- Oversee parts data for incidents and maintain quality targets for current servers and subsystems.
What you'll need#
- Current coursework or experience in computer science, data science, or computer engineering.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with data science libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, or PyTorch.
- Familiarity with JavaScript or React for building dashboards and visual charts.
- Understanding of computer architecture, programming fundamentals, basic statistics, and data modeling.
- Experience with development tools such as Git, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, or Eclipse.
- Exposure to AI coding assistants.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, take ownership of tasks, and learn new technologies.
- Strong communication skills.
