About the role#
As a Communications & Brand Strategy Intern, you will help shape how the world understands IBM. You will gain exposure to how brand, reputation, social media, and stakeholder engagement advance the business. This role includes project work, networking opportunities, and mentorship throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Support media relations, executive communications, and thought leadership for priority business areas.
- Develop social, community, or influencer strategies to engage key audiences.
- Build communication plans for market moments, events, product launches, or executive priorities.
- Conduct research on audiences, analysts, competitors, and the market to inform messaging.
- Create briefs and storytelling materials that explain IBM business value.
- Support internal communications to help employees understand company strategy and culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university as a rising senior for the 2027-2028 school year.
- Availability for a full-time internship during Summer 2027.
- Basic knowledge of communications, public relations, brand strategy, journalism, or marketing.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a portfolio or writing sample.
- Ability to turn research into insights with a data-driven mindset.
- Fluency in English and strong verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 24, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
