About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with daily operations, inventory, and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Manage inventory by ordering and stocking merchandise and checking invoices.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Protect customer privacy and medical information in accordance with HIPAA.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout your shift.
- Ability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
