About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to process prescriptions, manage inventory, and support patient care. This role requires a commitment to customer service and accuracy in a professional pharmacy environment.
What you'll do#
- Greet customers and provide friendly service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare prescriptions and apply labels to containers.
- Manage inventory by ordering, stocking, and checking invoices.
- Maintain the confidentiality of private medical information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Assist with training pharmacy staff and maintaining pharmacy cleanliness.
- Report medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Capacity to stand and walk frequently throughout a shift.
- Skill in counting, pouring, packaging, and labeling medications.
- Professional communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare providers.
