About the role#
Humber River Health is hiring Student Nurse Externs for the In Centre Dialysis department. This is a temporary part-time position that runs until March 31, 2027. You will work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends in 8 or 12-hour blocks. This role provides direct personal support to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic care and assist with activities of daily living for up to 10 patients, including bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Document activities of daily living, such as patient intake and output.
- Communicate relevant information regarding the patients you support to the healthcare team.
- Report any clinical concerns immediately to your direct supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- A valid CPR certification.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care while working under supervision.
- Completion of mandatory training modules, including privacy, WHMIS, fire safety, and hand hygiene.
