About the role#
We are looking for Student Nurse Externs to join our medicine and surgical programs. This is a temporary part-time position reporting to the Manager of the 7th floor. You will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses to provide direct personal support to patients.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct personal support to patients, assisting up to 10 patients at a time.
- Support basic care activities including bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Document activities of daily living, such as intake and output.
- Communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team.
- Report clinical concerns immediately to your direct supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care with supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well within an inter-professional healthcare team.
- Understanding of technology and good judgment in difficult situations.
- Mandatory compliance with training modules for Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, and hand hygiene.
- An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Good work attendance.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Status: Temporary part-time until March 31, 2027.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, including 8 or 12-hour shifts covering days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
