About the role#
The Clinical Extern Program offers nursing students a chance to develop clinical skills and critical thinking as an Unregulated Health Care Provider. You will work within the Adult Diabetes Education Clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital. This is a part-time, temporary position lasting until approximately March 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform fundamental patient care duties.
- Work within our model of care to understand the role of the Registered Nurse.
- Assist the nursing team at the patient care level.
- Work in an interprofessional team environment.
- Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality.
- Contribute as a reliable, person-focused student to foster a positive patient and family experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing, entering years 2 through 4 of a BScN program.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative.
- Ability to work all shifts as necessary.
- Demonstrated commitment to the core values of respect, compassion, trust, courage, and commitment.
- A satisfactory performance and attendance record.
- Ability to embrace change and contribute to a healthy, safe workplace.
- Official school transcript required for the interview stage.
Location & details#
- Location: Markham, Ontario.
- Pay: $21 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, though schedules may change based on operational needs.
- Term: Rolling.
