About the role#
The Hudson Institute seeks interns to support the China Center, focusing on the US-China relationship, national security, and US Grand Strategy. This role provides research and administrative assistance to the Director of the China Center. Interns engage with critical policy issues through discussions with experts and gain exposure to public events featuring scholars and policy professionals.
What you'll do#
- Gather and analyze data for reports and articles.
- Monitor current events to keep the team informed.
- Assist with research projects, presentations, and the drafting or editing of podcast transcripts.
- Support the production of articles, op-eds, reports, and briefing memos.
- Provide weekly support for the China Insider podcast.
- Handle administrative tasks and assist with event logistics.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate in political science, international relations, economics, security studies, Chinese language studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in US foreign policy, Chinese studies, regional security, and diplomatic issues.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Mandarin language skills are considered an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 4).
- Modality: On-site preferred; a minimum of 10 hours per week is required.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid, volunteer research position.
