Hudson Institute is seeking a research intern to support work on human rights and national security challenges in Asia. This role focuses on issues including human rights violations in China, North Korea, and Southeast Asia, such as the Uyghur genocide and crimes against humanity. Interns will work directly with scholars to discuss critical policy issues and will have the opportunity to assist with and attend public and intern-specific events.
What you'll do#
- Conduct substantive research for reports, articles, and briefing papers.
- Co-author op-eds and draft portions of reports.
- Assist scholars with research projects, presentations, and monitoring current events.
- Provide administrative support and assist with event coordination.
- Attend meetings and engage with scholars in the field.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate in political science, international relations, human rights, security studies, history, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in human rights and the politics of human rights in Asia.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 4).
- Commitment: Minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
