The African Affairs team at Hudson Institute is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term to support research on great power competition in Africa, with a specific focus on Chinese development in the region. This position offers exposure to critical foreign policy issues and the opportunity to engage directly with experts on these topics. Interns will also assist with and attend public events hosted by the institute.
What you'll do#
- Gather and analyze primary source data for reports and articles.
- Monitor and update the team on current events relevant to the region.
- Assist with research projects, presentations, briefing memos, and op-eds.
- Support the team with administrative tasks and event management.
What you'll need#
- Current students or recent graduates in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, History, Communications, Journalism, or related fields.
- Demonstrated interest in African affairs and the China-Africa relationship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Chinese or French language skills.

- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: August 24 to December 4, 2026.
- Status: Full-time, unpaid volunteer position.
