    About the role#

    The Center for Defense Concepts and Technology offers an internship focused on future warfare dynamics, military decision-making, and the use of wargames, models, and simulations. Interns gain exposure to critical defense issues through collaboration with subject matter experts and participation in public and intern-specific events.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide front-end web-based application development and research support.
    • Assist with the modeling and simulation of space weapon characteristics and performance.
    • Prepare materials for wargames involving U.S. and allied participants.
    • Develop tools for wargaming and assess new operational concepts and their impact on force design.
    • Assess trends related to the People's Liberation Army.

    What you'll need#

    • Current students or recent graduates in security studies, defense studies, computer science, physics, aerospace engineering, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated interest in U.S. security and defense strategy.
    • Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
    • Preferred skills include programming, mathematics, orbital mechanics, or proficiency in Mandarin or Japanese.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Washington, DC (On-site only).
    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Commitment: Full-time (minimum 20 hours per week).
    • Compensation: $3,000 stipend for the 3-month term.
