About the role#
The Center for Defense Concepts and Technology offers an internship focused on future warfare dynamics, military decision-making, and the use of wargames, models, and simulations. Interns gain exposure to critical defense issues through collaboration with subject matter experts and participation in public and intern-specific events.
What you'll do#
- Provide front-end web-based application development and research support.
- Assist with the modeling and simulation of space weapon characteristics and performance.
- Prepare materials for wargames involving U.S. and allied participants.
- Develop tools for wargaming and assess new operational concepts and their impact on force design.
- Assess trends related to the People's Liberation Army.
What you'll need#
- Current students or recent graduates in security studies, defense studies, computer science, physics, aerospace engineering, or related fields.
- Demonstrated interest in U.S. security and defense strategy.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Preferred skills include programming, mathematics, orbital mechanics, or proficiency in Mandarin or Japanese.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site only).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Commitment: Full-time (minimum 20 hours per week).
- Compensation: $3,000 stipend for the 3-month term.
