About the role#
The Center for Defense Concepts and Technology offers an internship focused on future warfare dynamics and military decision-making. Interns gain experience through wargames, models, and simulations while working alongside subject matter experts. This position provides a $3,000 stipend for the duration of the term.
What you'll do#
Responsibilities vary based on the specific project focus and include:
- Provide front-end web-based application development.
- Assist with modeling and simulation of space weapons, including the assessment of their performance characteristics.
- Prepare materials for wargames involving U.S. and allied participants.
- Develop tools for use in wargames and help assess new operational concepts and their impact on force design.
- Assess trends related to the People's Liberation Army.
- Assist with administrative support and participate in public and intern-specific events.
What you'll need#
- Current students or recent graduates in security studies, defense studies, computer science, aerospace engineering, physics, international relations, or related fields.
- Demonstrated interest in U.S. security and defense strategy.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Additional skills in areas such as math, programming, astrophysics, orbital mechanics, or proficiency in Mandarin or Japanese are considered an asset.
