About the role#
Join the team as an Underwriting Intern to gain hands-on experience within our underwriting department. You will work alongside experienced underwriters to contribute to real projects and build practical skills for your future career. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in our Chicago office.
What you'll do#
- Partner with underwriters to review insurance submissions and identify what makes a risk a good fit.
- Learn the fundamentals of risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy through team discussions and real-world examples.
- Organize underwriting information and update records to ensure key details remain accurate and accessible.
- Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights, then summarize your findings for the team.
- Contribute to team projects, meetings, and day-to-day coordination.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Risk Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus.
