About the role#
As a Software Analyst Intern at Hitachi Rail Canada, you will contribute to the development and analysis of software solutions. This role offers hands-on experience in a real-world engineering environment, helping you apply your academic background to projects within a global technology organization.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the formalization of mission and function descriptions, as well as architectural and algorithm designs.
- Document test procedures, automation scripts, and software code.
- Perform engineering and unit testing.
- Solve technical tasks in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for improvements and provide suggestions to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with C, C++, and Python.
- Knowledge of software development processes, environments, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with source control, IDEs, and requirements management tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and integrate quickly into a team.
- Availability for a full-time, 8- or 12-month term starting in January 2027.
- At least one quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the internship concludes.
- Previous co-op or internship experience is considered a plus.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (at least two days per week on-site).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Term: Winter 2027 start for 8 or 12 months.
