About the role#
As a software developer intern, you will join an AI development team within the IBM Marketing department. You will contribute to two core areas: the AI assistant on ibm.com and an internal platform used by SEO, content, and marketing teams to automate their workflows. You will ship features to production, participate in networking activities, and receive mentorship throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
Depending on your interests, you will contribute to the AI assistant or the internal marketing platform. Responsibilities include:
- Build agentic and multilingual capabilities for a chatbot.
- Develop Python tools, API integrations, and agentic search using hybrid RAG.
- Build crawling pipelines and extend evaluation and testing frameworks.
- Collaborate with frontend, UX, and design teams to improve the user experience.
- Develop a Next.js platform for SEO reporting, page planning, and process automation.
- Build data integrations across web analytics, search, CMS platforms, and SEO tools.
- Create APIs and AI-driven scripts to automate content workflows.
- Contribute to open-source integrations between watsonx.ai and frameworks like the Vercel AI SDK.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders and turn feedback into shipped features.
- Develop analytics dashboards and analyze data to track performance.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, HCI, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computational Linguistics, or Analytics.
- You must be a rising senior for the 2027-2028 school year and graduating between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Programming experience in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Familiarity with web development frameworks like Next.js or React.
- Basic SQL experience and an understanding of Git fundamentals.
- Experience with REST API development, writing tests, and building LLM or agentic applications.
- Experience with data visualization or dashboards.
- Exposure to web analytics, SEO, or marketing data.
- Ability to work without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 24 to August 13).
- Work Modality: Hybrid (at least three days per week in the office).
- Employment: Full-time internship.
